Boccelli supports the Immigration and Nationality Act
Overlea/Fullerton—Baltimore County Sheriff Candidate Ray Boccelli has announced his intention to fully support Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).
As a result of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA), Section 287(g) was made law in the United States in 1995. Under 287(g), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers provide state and local law enforcement with training and authorization to identify, process, and detain immigration offenders they encounter during their regular, day-to-day law enforcement activity.
“Illegal immigration is a serious issue that must be confronted, dealt with, and monitored. Maryland ranks eleventh in the country and Baltimore County ranks third highest in illegal immigration (www.helpsavemaryland.com). Individuals incarcerated in Baltimore County will have fingerprints checked against FBI, ICE and Homeland Security databases. Baltimore County will not be a safe haven for Illegal Immigrants and will not take jobs from those U.S. citizens and legal immigrants residing and raising families in our County. A close partnership with ICE will be established ensuring complete, timely, and accurate exchange of information and continued communication will take place,” said Boccelli.
Boccelli wants to bring true professionalism to the Baltimore County Sheriff’s Office and plans to ensure that the residents of the county can take comfort in the fact that as Sheriff, he will do everything he can to make sure illegal immigration in the community does not get out of control. Boccelli’s plan will also help to insure that incidents like the registered sex offender who was wanted on rape charges and was mistakenly released by the Sheriff’s Office in June, but not made public until mid-July, does not happen again.
“The complete adjudication of prisoners is a procedure that cannot afford weak links. Prisoner processing must be checked and cross checked; any discrepancies places citizens at danger and are unacceptable. The Baltimore County Detention Center should be reassigned under the responsive umbrella of the Sheriff’s Office. This will ensure continued and complete continuity of prisoner exchange and prisoner processing. Additionally, this will allow for closer transitioning and enforcement of Immigration Bill 287. As long as both institutions are separate entities, the greater the possibility of such issues as mismanagement of prisoner processing, lack of administrative continuity and increased possibility of prisoner release prior to complete adjudication,” continued Boccelli.

Boccelli wins the Republican primary in Baltimore County Sheriff’s Race
Overlea/Fullerton—Baltimore County Sheriff Candidate Ray Boccelli is pleased to announce that he has won the Republican primary race for the office.
Currently a Baltimore County Police Officer, Boccelli has been with the department for fifteen years, has held a variety of assignments, and has received numerous awards and decorations. Prior to his career as a Police Officer, Boccelli served twenty years of active duty with the United States Army, again holding a variety of positions and receiving a number of decorations.
“The quality of life in Baltimore County must remain our most focused priority,” said Boccelli.
Boccelli wants to ensure a true new beginning upon election to the office of Sheriff of Baltimore County. His platform includes maintaining a positive working environment and instilling a sense of pride and professionalism among Deputies, enforcing Immigration Law Senate Bill 287, ensuring the administrative processing of prisoners is complete and accurate, and focus on the safety and security of the Circuit Court facility, both building security and courtroom security, and keeping it current with modern-day standards.
“Illegal immigration is a serious issue that must be confronted, dealt with, and monitored,” Boccelli said. “Individuals incarcerated in Baltimore County will have fingerprints checked against FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security databases. Baltimore County will not be a safe haven for Illegal Immigrants and will not take jobs from those U.S. citizens and legal immigrants residing and raising families in our County. A close partnership with ICE will be established ensuring complete, timely, and accurate exchange of information and continued communication will take place.”
